A message from Chester Barnes, Hospital Director
Hello, I hope you are well and following the Government and Public Health England advice on keeping ourselves, our loved ones and our community safe by limiting the spread of Covid-19.
Following the agreement made by independent healthcare providers with NHS England, the Government has taken the decision to suspend all elective non-urgent surgery, to ensure clinicians and hospital beds are available to treat those who are suffering from serious and potentially life-threatening complications caused by the coronavirus.
Consequently, those patients who have an outpatient appointment or a date for surgery are being contacted by a member of my team to postpone visits to us until a later date. If a referral for treatment has been submitted to us, this will be placed on to a holding list until things return to normal.
I understand that you will be disappointed. You have my profound and sincerest apologies that you will have to wait longer for treatment. Sadly, in these exceptional circumstances, there is no other option. However, I assure you that, as soon as it becomes possible, we will contact you to re-schedule matters so you receive the treatment you require.
Here at Devizes NHS Treatment Centres we are now working with our NHS partners at the local NHS Trusts to see how best we can support their services. We will provide an update with further details of what that looks like in the coming days.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who works at Devizes NHS Treatment Centres for their commitment and dedication in what is a challenging time for all of us.
In the meantime, my team and I wish you well and urge you strongly to follow the advice on self-isolation and social distancing, so that together we all get through this difficult time as quickly and as safely as possible.
